Compare with other upright bikes

The Exerpeutic 1200 folding upright bike is a great piece of exercise equipment for those that are looking for a low-impact, comfortable workout. Indeed, the wide, adjustable seat will keep your back well supported while you pedal your way to fitness. Even better, this light upright bike also comes with a space-saving foldable feature, hence if you don’t want it on the way when not in use you can just fold it up and store it away.exerpeutic upright bike

Now this is an entry level model, which means that it doesn’t include all the fancy features you’d expect on a more expensive upright bike. Even though, it manages to offer a solid build and an effective workout, which have made this Exerpeutic 1200 one of the most popular at the moment. Indeed, while this model is not as affordable as the Velocity CHB-U2101, its amazing 300 pounds of user capacity puts this model above the rest on value for the price.

Product Features and Specifications

  • Maximum Capacity: Up to 300lbs
  • Heart Rate Monitor: Yes
  • Seating Comfort: Adjustable 5’3 to 6’3’ extra-wide seat
  • Resistance type: Magnetic
  • Resistance levels: 8
    Product dimensions: 31 x 19 x 49”
  • Machine weight: 39lbs

The Exerpeutic 1200 features a magnetic resistance which promises a highly efficient workout and rapid weight loss. Magnetic resistances are known for being virtually silent, while also providing a smooth training session and this is something that users are surely going to appreciate from this bike. The smooth cycling motion is also enhanced by a professional-grade ‘high torque’ cranking system which assures fluidity.

This model sports the basic 8 levels of resistance to make for a fully customizable workout. The resistance settings are also appropriate for novice and experienced users alike. In fact, more experienced athletes claimed to have found the last tension level to be quite challenging, even when they are used to outdoors cycling. The tension knob is placed right below the display console, making it easy to reach without having to interrupt your workout. Also, despite being a foldable model, the Exerpeutic 1200 comes with up to 300 pounds of maximum user weight, which is the same amount that you’ll find on non-foldable models such as the Marcy Mag Bike.

The oversized display projects a plethora of exercise-related data that include calories burned, distance covered, time and speed. This upright bike also features a special pulse monitor which keeps track of your heart rate to warn you when you’re overdoing your training. While this feature is helpful to heart patients and elderly people, it can also be used by athletes to help them keep an eye on their heart rate elevation and recovery.

Ease of Use and Comfortexerpeutic 1200 seat

This exercise bike is very comfortable, especially because of its oversized, padded seat which is large enough to easily accommodate users of various shapes and sizes. The bike is also equipped with wide pedals and safety straps that wrap firmly around your shoes- no matter what shoe size you are.

Since the flywheel delivers a very quiet and soothing biking motion, users will even be able to motivate themselves by watching a movie, listening to some music or even talking on the phone as they exercise. Personally, I was quite appreciative of the leg stabilizers which kept the bike from moving, even during more energetic workouts. In fact, a common problem which I’ve had to face with other bikes was the constant wobbling and moving around whenever I pedaled too hard, but this was not an issue with the with this model. On the contrary, this upright bike boasts of quite a lightweight but dense base.

The best thing about this model is that, thanks to being a basic model, it is extremely easy to use. In fact, even if you’ve never had experience with exercise bikes before, you will have no problems finding your way around this model.

Additionally, there’s no need to worry about storage space with this product since it comes with a folding option which greatly minimizes its footprint, making it easy for the user to push it under a bed or closet until the next time you want to use it again.

Assembly and Partsexerpeutic 1200 bike

The Exerpeutic 1200 comes nearly fully assembled. The main body is already joined together which means that users only have to set up the computer, pedals, seat and feet. Thanks to this, even when I’m not normally handy with tools and manual work, I didn’t have any difficulty on setting it up. The boxed package includes all the required parts and- more helpfully- all the tools that users might need to put the machine together. You will also receive a detailed and fully illustrated instructions manual with step-by-step diagrams. According to the manual, most users might need around half an hour or less to assemble this model.

While the wide seat has been designed to accommodate customers of various sizes, some users did claim that the seat was much too large for them, which made their workouts quite uncomfortable. Also, since the display console does not have an internal backup battery, a few other users regretted the fact that the odometer automatically goes to reset whenever they replace the batteries.

A highly recommended bike for home use

Despite these minor drawbacks, the Exerpeutic 1200 turned out to be a great value for the money, as shown by its 4.5 user’s rating. Indeed, despite its affordable price, this bike offers enough resistance for a good workout while at the same time being quite comfortable, and as an added bonus, its foldable feature makes it the perfect exercise bike for those that are space-limited. However you should also know that while this model is great, if you’re not limited on space then you could get a non-foldable model such as the Stamina 5325, which for the same price also includes up to 6 preset programs.
