The Stamina Elite Total Body Recumbent Exercise Bike is a beast of a workout machine that turns the traditional stationary bike routine into a full body work out that targets legs, arms, shoulders, chest, and all sorts of other muscle groups not usually targeted by this kind of exercise. Some people might find this to be a bit of overkill – and it might very well be too much for someone who just wants a simple bike ride to stay in a decent shape – but I can definitely see how fitness enthusiasts and athletes alike could fall in love with this one very quickly.Stamina Elite

In addition to its full body workout, the Stamina Elite also incorporates a recumbent seat design for a more comfortable and ergonomically designed body position during workouts and features magnetic resistance technology to improve smoothness and minimize the noise caused by the bike – but we’ll get into these in more detail later.

The Stamina Elite has quite a few nice features but the most obvious would be the one that puts the “Total Body” in its full name. The handles on this bike can be used for pedalling with your arms while you ride – giving your arms and the rest of your upper body a decent workout to match what your legs are doing. This is a step away from the targeted purpose of a stationary bike – working the legs – but it does take into account the fact that many users aren’t so much interested in toning their legs exclusively as they are in burning more calories and losing weight. The fully body workout that this feature provides would definitely help in this regard and increase the number of calories burned during workouts.

Stamina Elite MonitorThe Stamina Elite also features a recumbent seating design that puts the user in a more relaxed semi-horizontal position during workouts. This kind of positioning is very advantageous because it shifts the body weight into a more evenly distributed position that minimizes pressure on sensitive areas like the lower back (a common site of aches and pains from exercising for too long on traditional exercise bikes). The recumbent design might make it perfect for users who’ve suffered aches and pains from regular stationary bikes or just want to workout in a safer and more natural body position.

This recumbent bike’s latest feature is its magnetic resistance that makes it one of the quietest bikes around – especially when you consider all the different motions being used during the full body workout. This quietness also makes for a smoother ride and minimizes distracting noise from the machine that would otherwise interfere with watching TV, listening to music, or some other activity during exercise sessions.

The bike comes with the standard 8 resistance levels, that though don’t offer as much variety as other models, will allow users to start on a low difficulty and as they build-up their strength they can increase it to the maximum level. In fact, the maximum resistance setting will prove challenging enough both for novices and more advanced athletes.

The recumbent bike comes with- always appreciated- pulse sensors, which are placed on the grips as to allow the user to keep an eye on their heart rate while pedalling. Now this is especially great for those that- due to health requirements- need to stay within a target heart rate, or just want to keep track of their endurance’s progress. Its LCD screen displays fitness related data such as calories burned, speed, distance, time and heart rate.

Ease of Use and Comfort

Recumbent Bike Seat

This recumbent bike might be a little awkward to use for full body workouts at first – simply because most people aren’t used to this kind workout, and most of us lack the coordination to start with. That being said, once you get the hang of it, the motions used by the arms and legs are pretty intuitive and easy to pick up. In fact, most users won’t have trouble coordinating the motions after the first couple of minutes and will appreciate the increased burning of calories and full body toning that this style affords.

Additionally, the recumbent seat design and the well-padded back support makes the Stamina Elite quite comfortable by helping the user to maintain good body position while providing support to keep unnecessary tension to a minimum (and comfort to a maximum). This makes it suitable for individuals with a need/preference for ergonomically designed gym equipment that emphasizes comfort as much as effective workouts.

To enhance the comfort even more, this model also comes with a handy water holder, so the user won’t have to pause the workout in order to get some of the vital liquid.

Assembling the Stamina Elite will probably take a while but it’s not overly difficult by gym equipment assembly standards. The time you’ll spend doing it is probably the biggest concern here since the necessary tools and instructions to get the job done are provided and the instructions themselves are quite clear and broken down into an easy to follow step-by-step format. An hour or so should have you up and running (or riding).

However, we recommend you do yourself a favour and assemble it wherever you plan to use it (or at least on the same floor), as moving this machine up a flight of stairs when fully assembled won’t be much fun.

The major drawbacks to this bike are the unfamiliarity of the full body workout experience to most users and the time-consuming nature of the set-up process (though the hour or so it’s likely to take is by no means the worst as far as gym equipment assembly goes). It’s also not a replacement for a “real” full body workout that incorporates multiple specialized gym equipment (obviously) but it definitely does a good job at throwing a decent upper body workout into an otherwise regular bike riding routine.Stamina Handlebars

All in all, despite being a bit awkward at first, once we got used to it, we really liked the Stamina Elite’s performance. Now it might not come with built-in programs or as many resistance levels as other models for the same price, such as the Diamondback Fitness 510sr or the Livestrong LS6.0R, but- with its hand pedalling option- it certainly has an advantage over all other stationary bikes, which makes it a better option for those looking for a full-body workout.

The Stamina Elite Total Body is a high-end, top-quality recumbent bike that incorporates modern fitness technology and innovative workout ideas to make users’ exercise time more efficient and balanced (instead of just working the legs like typical stationary bikes). This means that more calories get burned, which is good news for people trying to lose weight in a convenient home gym or bedroom friendly way. It also helps users to tone their legs, arms, and the rest of their upper and lower body with one relatively simple exercise and a single machine – not bad for an exercise bike that can fit almost anywhere.
